Preparing to Leave for Africa: Ministry Updates & Prayer Request
Dear Friends,
It has been nearly five weeks since we sent our first letter and so much has taken place. I thought it would be helpful to send a short update.
First and foremost - THANK YOU! I am overwhelmed by your generosity and truly humbled. But more than that, I am grateful for your hearts of love and your care for others.
There were so many variables and unknowns when we began to believe for this ministry. Bishop Kamau has been working tirelessly to arrange the logistics of all that will take place in the 3 countries where we will be training and caring for pastors. He is an amazing guy, who is driven by his love for Jesus and his people.
We have spent the last few weeks arranging flights, meeting venues and working through the details required for this first trip.
Now that the arrangements are in place, it became clear that the original giving goal for the three ministry training trips this year needed to be adjusted from $100,000 to $150,000. We have had a great response from the pastors and churches we will be working with which requires additional resources.
As I shared with you in our first letter, many of these pastors serve with little to no biblical or ministry training. Spiritual care and support are often nonexistent. Our goal is to fully cover the cost of travel, accommodations, meals, materials, meeting facilities, including one year of financial support (which is about $150 US) for 900 local pastors which will ultimately provide equipping for ministry across three nations. These pastors often cannot travel for training and have no means to cover food or lodging if opportunities are made available to them; yet they are shaping the faith of entire communities.
Thank you for catching the vision and sharing your heart and treasure with your brothers and sisters across the globe! As I mentioned before, Gale and I are not asking for personal support, we ourselves are investing personally in this work. Your generous gifts and donations will go to care for these pastors.
Finally, please hold us up in prayer as we plan to leave February 11th for Nairobi. I am blessed to be accompanied by Wayne Tesoriero who many of you may know from Water of Life. He and his wife Kathy ran our Divorce Recovery Ministry for many years. I have attached our itinerary so you can pray. PLEASE PRAY FOR US!
Without prayer we can accomplish nothing eternal. However, through prayer God can change continents, lives and destinies.
In Faith,
Pastor Dan and Gale
P.S. As time permits, I hope to share a couple updates while I’m in Africa. If you’d like to follow along, you can subscribe to my email updates, opt in for text message updates, or visit the website anytime at pastordancarroll.org.
