A Life Update from Pastor Dan & Gale Carroll

Dear Friends,

After 35 years of ministry at Water of Life, I am trusting God and stepping into a new season of ministry.

For many years, I have sensed the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart about Africa—about going, serving, and caring for pastors. I didn’t know what that calling would look like, and as is often the case, the Lord didn’t reveal the details until the time was right. Over the past year, several invitations have come from different ministries asking me to come to Africa to serve, train, encourage, and bring healing through the power of God to pastors who are faithfully shepherding their communities.

Many of these pastors serve with little to no biblical or ministry training, and spiritual care or support is often nonexistent. God has placed a deep burden on my heart to help train, equip, and care for them—and I am stepping forward in obedience to that call.

A Vision Shaping Experience

Let me share with you an experience I had that will shed light and help you understand the journey. In 2022, I had the opportunity to visit several refugee camps in Uganda with Pastor Glen and our friend, Uche Izuora. It was both an amazing and heartbreaking experience. We met pastors caring for refugees from the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. These men were pouring their lives out for their people with almost nothing—many living on roughly $150 a year.

They had very little formal Bible or ministry training, yet they were leading churches, praying for the sick, and preaching the Gospel with unwavering faith. We were able to encourage them, pray with them, and bless each one financially. I left Uganda knowing without a doubt that God was calling me to help care for pastors like these in a more intentional and ongoing way.

As I enter this final season of my ministry life, I intend—by the grace and power of God—to do just that.

Why This Matters

I want to say this clearly: Gale and I have been abundantly blessed. So many of you have poured into our lives in ways we will never fully understand on this side of heaven. We are not asking for personal support, we ourselves are investing personally in this work.

What we are inviting you to do is prayerfully consider helping bless the lives of pastors who have huge hearts for the Kingdom but almost no resources. These pastors often cannot travel for training and have no means to cover food or lodging if opportunities are made available to them. Yet they are shaping the faith of entire communities.

Many of you are aware that Islam is actively battling for the hearts of Africans. Evangelism is happening, and thousands are coming to Christ—but without discipleship, trained pastors, and healthy churches, many will be swept away. Strengthening pastors strengthens churches. Strengthening churches shapes generations.

The Plan for 2026

I have set aside time for three ministry trips to Africa in 2026, with the first planned for February. I will be traveling to Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. In each nation, we plan to gather 200–300 pastors for three days of biblical teaching, pastoral care, encouragement, and prayer. I will also be preaching and teaching in local churches during these trips.

Our goal is to fully cover the cost of travel, accommodations, meals, materials, meeting facilities, and one year of financial support for 600–900 local pastors in total which will ultimately provide spiritual care, emotional support, healing and ministry equipping across three nations.

To fully support each trip to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda the total cost is $100,000.

I know that number may feel overwhelming. I am not asking anyone to give out of pressure. I am simply asking you to pray. Ask the Holy Spirit if you are to help stand in the gap financially, and if He says yes—obey. This is how the Kingdom is built: one decision, one life at a time.

These trips are being coordinated by my dear friend, Bishop Francis Kamau, pastor of Cornerstone Faith Assembly Church in Nairobi. Francis has been a friend of Water of Life—and a personal friend of mine—for more than 18 years. He is a graduate of Fuller Seminary and serves in leadership with Dynamic Church Planting International while pastoring his church in Nairobi. His heart for pastors and church planting across Africa is unmatched.

Partner With Me To Make This Project Possible

PRAY
I invite you to partner with us in prayer for this vital work.

  • Pray for pastors attending these gatherings—that they would be strengthened, encouraged, and renewed.

  • Pray for spiritual depth and discipleship, that churches would be firmly rooted in biblical truth.

  • Pray for Bishop Kamau and I, for wisdom, health, and protection as we lead and serve.

  • Pray for lasting fruit, that trained pastors would raise up strong leaders within their communities and churches.

  • Pray for God’s provision, that every gathering would be fully funded and every pastor welcomed.

GIVE
Jesus never intended for us to walk these assignments alone. He calls us to partner together to change the world.

I wouldn’t ask if the need were not real. Would you pray about sacrificing and partnering with me financially to help care for and equip pastors who are faithfully serving on the front lines of ministry?

I am in the process of formalizing a non-profit to support this ministry long-term. In the meantime, I am partnering with Alabaster Foundation- a local non-profit dedicated to supporting missionaries and their work—for fundraising efforts.

If you feel led to give, you can do so securely at here.

Thank you for praying, for believing, and for walking with us in this new season.

With Gratitude & Faith,
