Another Journey Begins: Africa This October
Greetings!
It’s been two months since I last communicated. So sorry! I lost a month somewhere. Seriously though, we decided to take a summer break. We have, however, continued to move things forward with the ministry. Susan, Jeff, Suanna and I, have been working on building a web site, setting up our 501(c)3 non-profit and planning my next trip to Africa. As many of you know, I love to reach and touch other nations and their people for Jesus. What a privilege we have as believers to be ambassadors for Him. Many years ago, when I first read Psalm 2:8, “Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.”, my heart was blown up by the promise. Yet, 45 years later I have seen the Holy Spirit open so many doors to so many nations I could never have dreamt of touching or impacting. He keeps His promises, doesn’t He?
The current plan is for me to travel back to Kenya and then on to Ethiopia from October 3rd thru October 18th. Both Pastor Joshua Beckley and Jerry Musgrove had expressed they would like to join me on this trip but unfortunately neither are able to make it happen this time. So, I will be traveling alone. I convey this to ask for prayer, please intercede and ask Jesus to cover and guard this trip and all my coming in and going out.
The schedule is to travel first to northern Kenya to an area called Turkana. I’ve received several requests to come and work there with leaders. I’ve also had requests from several other countries. We have been praying this through to know where the Lord is leading. Turkana is very remote, deep in the bush of Kenya, no hotels, just huts and villages, very little water and difficult living conditions. Bishop Kamau, who has worked tirelessly to organize these trips, has a team of pastors who work in this area and believe they can gather 300 leaders and pastors to meet. After praying, I feel strongly led to go and see if I can make a small difference in their world.
The photos below were shared by missionaries Russ and Maria, who live in Kenya and frequently minister in Turkana. These images offer a glimpse into this rural, traditional community and provide a small preview of the ministry stories still to come.
I’m currently scheduled to spend 4-5 days in Turkana and will then head to Ethiopia. While in Ethiopia, I plan to gather with some wonderful brothers and sisters I met in Uganda last year. They practically begged me to come to Ethiopia when we were last together. I planned to visit last April/May but their national elections were held during that time and elections in Africa can be interesting, so we decided to postpone that trip until October.
I am working on several new discipleship and leadership messages to share on this trip and would love for you to pray for Jesus’ hand to be on all of this.
I will complete my seventh week of teaching in the Book of Daniel at Limitless Church here in Bonners Ferry. This has been a blessing as I always love to share from the Word and see people grow, but at the end of the day, there is nothing like hitting the ground in Africa and impacting hurting, discouraged leaders and pastors with the Hope of Jesus!
So please pray that the Holy Spirit will show up and do His work, and that I will be submitted to Him and all He wants to do on this October trip.
Thank you again for your generosity and past support in making this trip possible. Your heart for Jesus and love for this ministry is amazing, and, as Paul said, my heart misses you and longs for fellowship with you.
In Jesus,
Pastor Dan
