Please Pray for Me As I Leave for Africa
Dear Friends,
As I pack this week in preparation to leave for Africa on Saturday, October 3, 2026, I am often reminded of something I teach others regularly. It is the Lord who establishes our steps, or as the NLT puts it, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9.
Each time I have packed to leave for Africa this year, I am keenly aware that for many years I believed I would spend my last season of life working in Africa. I had no idea what that would mean. In fact, for much of my ministry life, I spent my time working and visiting in Southeast Asia, Cambodia, and Thailand. I love those places and was recently invited to Cambodia to do some teaching, which I hope to do next year.
However, Africa… Africa was always what the Holy Spirit would put on my heart when I prayed forward. As in, “What’s out there, Jesus?” And now, as I plan these trips with Bishop Kamau and his team, I see the Lord literally establishing my steps. I am in awe and greatly humbled. What an amazing God. We deserve nothing… but as we seek Him, He gives us destiny, purpose, and something larger than this life to live for. I am grateful to Him and, as well, for each of you. Each one of you plays such an important part in my destiny, just as I do in yours. Jesus allowed our journeys to cross and our paths to meet to fulfill the Kingdom of God.
So, having said all of that, I will now ask the obvious: Will you please pray for me and this trip, which begins this Saturday, October 3?
Additionally, would you continue to pray while I’m in Africa and even after I return? I am planning to fly to Southern California to participate in my dear sister, Becky Calderon’s, homegoing celebration on October 23.
Becky worked at Water of Life for 16 years, serving tirelessly. She was amazing. She is the one who decorated so much of the new building and the remodels we did. She was Trunk-or-Treat; she made it happen year after year after year. An amazing lady that I was blessed to serve beside.
Thank you for praying and for your support in making this trip possible. I am traveling alone on this trip, which is something I try never to do. Pray for my safety, as well as for God’s will to be done and for His Kingdom to come during the teaching and ministry times.
May you know Jesus’ deep love for you, and may He keep your feet on His narrow road.
In Jesus,
Pastor Dan
